Mitacs builds partnerships between academia, industry and the world to create a more innovative Canada. Through unique research funding and training programs, Mitacs aims to support the development of the next generation of innovators with vital scientific and business skills.

This workshop briefly presents the innovation challenge that Canada faces, reviews the various research funding programs available at Mitacs for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, including Mitacs Accelerate, Elevate and Globalink. It also outlines basic techniques for identifying and reaching out to industry partners.

Learning Objectives
In this workshop, participants will:
1.    Gain insight on Canada’s innovation and productivity challenges.
2.    Learn which Mitacs resources are best suited to support your research and career objectives.
3.    Get hands on techniques to identify and reach out to an industry partner.

Jean-Philippe Valois. M.Ing.
Jean-Philippe joined Mitacs in 2012 and is currently Director of Business Development for Mitacs. Prior to Mitacs, he worked as Systems and Business Development Engineer for Desjardins, Bell and CAE. With a diverse background in 3D graphics, embedded systems, computer vision, flight simulation, telecommunications and business solutions, his role at Mitacs is to connect universities and industry and to drive economic development in Canada through collaborative innovation projects.
