CTV - Fainstat's last gift was himself
Michael Fainstat's decision to donate his body to ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University for dissection and training of medical students reflected a life that was devoted to public service and pragmatic as well as principled action.
"Michael Fainstat, as we know, was a major contributor to his community during his life," said Dr. Sandra Miller, a spokesperson for ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ's cadaver-donor program. "Now, in his last act of giving, he has graciously donated his body to the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ medical school."
Fainstat, who died Dec. 29 at age 87, was chairman of the city of Montreal's executive committee from 1986 to 1990 under then mayor Jean Doré. His friends and former colleagues [gathered] at Mount Royal Commemorative Services in Outremont for a celebration of his life.
