Davidson & Hill net 3 for Canada in win over Finns

HARBIN, China – ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ teammates Vanessa Davidson of Kirkland,
Que., and Carly Hill of Dorval, Que., combined for three goals as
Canada blanked Finland 5-0 before 2,100 at the Harbin Ice Hockey
Gym at world university winter games in China, Thursday.
Canada snapped a scoreless draw with five markers in the final
period, including two by Davidson and one by Hill, who was credited
with the game-winner at the 48-second mark.
Less than six minutes later, St.FX’s Brayden Ferguson of Toronto,
and Moncton’s Marieve Provost of Laval, Que., scored 82 seconds
apart to put Canada ahead 3-0. Davidson then struck twice at 9:52
and 10:45 to ice the contest.
In a physical affair that featured 55 minutes in penalties, Canada
outshot the Finns 42-17, with Manitoba’s Stacey Corfield picking up
the win.
The Canadian women’s record is now 2-0 as they head into an
off-day. Their next game is scheduled to take place Saturday
against Slovakia.
