Released: February 17, 2009 Department of Defense Peer Reviewed Orthopedic Research
Program (PRORP) The US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC), Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), has received congressional appropriations in Fiscal Year 2009 (FY09) to establish a Peer Reviewed Orthopedic Research Program (PRORP). Appropriations in the amount of $61 Million will be managed specifically to support basic and clinical research on orthopedic injuries, specifically as they relate to U.S. military casualties. The PRORP will be managed utilizing CDMRP's two-tier review process, recommended by the Institute of Medicine. Tentative milestones for this program are listed below. March 2009: Stakeholders Meeting This meeting will determine the current state of the science as it relates to orthopedic trauma and rehabilitation research. If you would like to be considered for participation in the Stakeholders Meeting, please submit your request by February 27, 2009 to stakeholders [at] cdmrp.org (). Stakeholders are considered to be leading scientists, clinicians, healthcare workers, or consumer advocates with broad knowledge of research and patient priorities in the field. Please provide your contact information and indicate your involvement or expertise in orthopedic research. Your request will be fully considered but not guaranteed due to limitations on the size of the meeting. Program (SCIRP) The US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC), Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), has received congressional appropriations in Fiscal Year 2009 (FY09) to establish a Spinal Cord Injury Research Program (SCIRP). Appropriations in the amount of $35 Million will be managed specifically to address research and treatment of spinal cord injuries.
