DJI and ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Go Live with Fish + Forest Project

Published: 5 August 2016

DJI is proud to present, together with Canada's ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University and Brazil's Federal University of Pará - Altamira Campus, the Fish + Forest Project. Tune in to watch a special livestream from the Amazonian Xingu River in northern Brazil, a home to up to 600 unique species of fish, many found nowhere else, narrated by experts in the river's flora and fauna. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions live on Twitter.

Over the past two years, Professor Margaret Kalacska's Fish + Forest Project in the Geography Department at Montreal's ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University has been pioneering the use of drones, aerial videography and 3D mapping to study land cover change and its impacts on freshwater ecosystems ranging from peatlands, to rain forests, to river rapids. Using the DJI Phantom and Inspire 1 to create 3D maps of these environments, the precise shape and structure of each is captured so that decision makers and environmental protection organisations can make better policy decisions, allocating scarce resources more effectively.
