Dr. James Archibald appointed to the Conseil supérieur de la langue française
Dr. James Archibald was recently appointed to Quebec’s Conseil supérieur de la langue française, a council that advises the province’s government with regard to language policy.
Archibald currently serves as Associate Dean (Academic) of ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ’s School of Continuing Studies. He is also Director of the School’s Department of Translation and Written Communication. In 2003, he was made a Chevalier in the Ordre des Palmes Académiques, and in 2008 he received the Francis W. Weeks Award of Merit from the Association for Business Communication, an honour recognizing his contribution to the profession.
The Conseil supérieur de la langue française is comprised of eight members from different sociocultural backgrounds. It undertakes studies on the use of language in the workplace and the classroom, as well as in signage and information technologies, among other areas.
