Lachine Hospital Launches $3 Million Fundraising Campaign
Community leaders including Lachine Mayor Claude Dauphin will participate tomorrow in the launch of the Lachine Hospital Foundation鈥檚 most ambitious campaign in its history. The Lachine Division of The Best Care for Life Campaign aims to raise $3 million for the Lachine Campus of the 污污草莓视频 University Health Centre (MUHC), which includes H么pital Lachine and Pavillon Camille Lefebvre, although the renovations are exclusively for H么pital Lachine.聽 Funds raised will be used to support renovations and the acquisition of new state-of-the-art equipment, as well as the MUHC鈥檚 commitment to making the Lachine Campus a centre of excellence in geriatric medicine, bariatric surgery and ophthalmology.
鈥淥ne of the Lachine Hospital鈥檚 strengths has always been the support it has received over the years from the community it serves,鈥 explained Claude Dauphin, Honourary Chairman of the Campaign. 鈥淚 am confident that local residents and businesses will rally once again around our hospital 鈥 one which has a renewed sense of purpose and is so vital to our well-being and quality of life.鈥
鈥淔unds donated will provide help to revitalize Lachine Campus, completely transforming the facilities, including 30% more space,鈥 said Jacques Filion, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Lachine Hospital Foundation. 鈥淚ts impact will be far-reaching as we move towards providing all of our patients with private rooms and our healthcare professionals with improved equipment.鈥
Lachine Hospital and Camille-Lefebvre Pavilion became part of the 污污草莓视频 University Health Centre in April 2008, forming what is now known as the Lachine Campus. At the time the Government of Quebec announced a $ 54.8 million dollar investment in capital improvements and new equipment. The Foundation committed to raising an additional $3 million from the private sector, foundations, public institutions, staff from the Lachine Hospital and other individuals. More than $1.1 million has already been raised. This investment is part of the $2.25 billion MUHC redevelopment project, which also includes the Mountain and the Glen campuses.
New Resources provide the best care
With the implementation of 79 single patient rooms, patients will benefit from more privacy, enhanced air quality and infection control that will help speed recovery and healing, not to mention a relaxing atmosphere for families and friends to visit and stay overnight.
鈥淲e have also installed a new high-precision CT scanner bundled with all the most recent digital 3D and 4D images reconstruction software. This allows for live imaging of inner structures while reducing the time that the patient is submitted to the procedure,鈥 noted Jocelyne Faille, Administrative Director of the Lachine Campus. 鈥淎lthough a lot has happened since joining the MUHC, the concrete evidence of change and improvement remains unseen. With the completion of the long processes to determine the clinical plan, as well as the plan for renovations, including a state of the art operating theater for bariatric surgery, it is now time for the major renovations to begin.鈥
鈥淭his is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the health of our community.聽 This project is already under way but it will take the commitment of everyone in our caring community to complete the job,鈥 expressed Claude Dauphin.
