Le Groupe MusiArt, the choir of the MUHC Department of Psychiatry, launches its first CD of original songs
The Department of Psychiatry of the ۲ݮƵ University Health Centre (MUHC) is proud to launch the first CD of its choir, Le Groupe MusiArt, entitled “Confidences… in confidence.” This CD includes ten original songs, each composed by users of the department’s outpatient clinics, under the direction of Dr. Marie-France Boudreault, MUHC psychologist, and music therapists Mélanie Auberson and Dany Bouchard.
“This experience has been extremely rewarding for our users. The choir has helped them improve and maintain mental health through increased well-being and self-esteem while also encouraging motivation and concentration. Creativity allows us to express many things, and singing and music are extraordinary means of expression. The songs we've recorded are indeed very touching,” said Dr. Boudreault.
“The recording of this CD was made possible thanks to an Innovation Fund grant. The entire group participated in writing the lyrics and music, meaning that each member can identify with and take ownership of the songs. The song themes deal with introspection and healing, as well as freedom, the environment and hope. We also touch on different styles of music, such as reggae, blues and folk. The CD can be purchased at the Archambault store at the corner of Berri and Saint-Catherine,” added Dr. Boudreault.
