MACES Referendum: Career Advising and Transition Services Fee

Published: 15 March 2016

MACES (۲ݮƵ Association of Continuing Education Students) is holding a referendum from March 15-29, 2016. The referendum is concerning a fee for ۲ݮƵ School of Continuing Studies’ Career Advising and Transition Services.

Career Advising and Transition Services began as a pilot program in 2013. It currently offers career-related services, including individual advising sessions and workshops focusing on developing value propositions and writing resumes and cover letters. About 3,000 students have participated in an offering, and the program has received extremely positive feedback.

The pilot program has been funded through temporary means. With sustained funding, these services would be continued and expanded to include programs for internships, mentorships, a job fair, and a job board. These services would help facilitate the acquisition and development of marketable skills and provide opportunities to interact with employers.

MACES is holding a referendum from March 15 to 29, 2016. Students are encouraged to VOTE electronically on the following question:
Do you agree to a new non-opt-outable fee of $15 per term, including summer session, per student to support the “Career Advising and Transition Services”, beginning Fall 2016 and continuing to Spring 2019 (inclusive) at which time MACES will bring the fee back to the membership in a referendum to renew the fee?
