Major public works project near Roddick Gates
The replacement of a major water main at the corner of ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ
College Ave. and Sherbrooke St. W. will result in some partial and
temporary street and sidewalk closings in the area adjacent to the
Roddick Gates until early August. The work began Monday, June
14.
The City of Montreal says the work will be undertaken in three
phases. The first phases, which are already under way, will take
place on the south side of Sherbrooke St. at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ College Ave.
until July 9, after which work will shift to the north side of
Sherbrooke, directly in front of the Roddick Gates, beginning July
12. This will be the most disruptive phase for the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ
community.
The City of Montreal says some bottlenecks are to be expected, but
that the streets would remain open to local traffic most of the
time. Detours and alternate lanes will be used when
necessary.
Some parking restrictions will be in place during the work period.
However, access to businesses, residences and institutions will be
maintained at all times.
The water main project is related to the rehabilitation of the
McTavish reservoir and pumping station. The stretch of
McTavish St. between Dr. Penfield Ave. and Pine Ave., including its
intersections, will also be affected by closings and bottlenecks at
various times throughout the summer and fall.
