Published: 2 August 2004

ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ staff and students dug deep into their pockets last year for Centraide. Heather Munroe-Blum, principal and vice-chancellor of ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University, announced the 2003 ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Centraide Campaign raised $290,000.

Thanks to an increasing amount of pay deductions and fundraising events, from a silent auction to an evening of tango, the University community surpassed its goal by $20,000 (the target was $270,000). ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ was also a finalist for this year's Centraide Solidaires Award. ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ competed in the "employee campaign" category (1,000 or more employees). The Centraide awards are given each year in tribute to the leadership and social commitment of the volunteers and organizations who support Centraide of Greater Montreal.

Munroe-Blum also reported a 58 percent surge in Centraide donations at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ over the past three years, thanks to an active campaign committee, as well as alumni and retirees who gave to Centraide via ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ. Anyone wishing to give to Centraide through ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ can visit the Centraide website.
