MUHC welcomes OCPM report on its Mountain Campus plans
The ۲ݮƵ University Health Centre (MUHC) today welcomed the report from the Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM) regarding its plans to modernize and expand the Montreal General Hospital as part of its Redevelopment Project on the Mountain Campus.
“We are pleased to have shared our plans for the Mountain Campus with the public,” said Dr. Arthur T. Porter, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the ۲ݮƵ University Health Centre. We recognize that Mount Royal is an invaluable part of Montreal’s heritage, as is academic medicine. That is why we have worked diligently with the city, the borough and community groups to ensure that our project would strike the necessary balance between protecting the area around Mount Royal and putting in place what is essential to provide the healing environment our community deserves.”
Following public hearings this spring where the MUHC presented its plans for the Montreal General Hospital, the OCPM released a report today that made four key recommendations aimed at better integrating the project with its built environment and Mount Royal.
“We will review the OCPM’s recommendations in the coming days,” added Dr. Porter. “The MUHC Redevelopment Project is based on a two-campus model with key clinical services distributed in such a way as to ensure exemplary patient care, research and teaching. Thanks to our plan, the Mountain Campus will continue to provide Montrealers with an outstanding downtown hospital and tertiary trauma centre that is capable of meeting future needs, healthcare standards and environmental principles.”
