Rémi Bolduc, Chair of the Jazz Department at the Schulich School of Music, was awarded an Opus Prize in a ceremony held Sunday, February 7 at the Salle Bourgie.  His concert performance of  "L'Hommage à Dave Brubeck" featured performances by Schulich School of Music jazz students Andrew Boudreau, Mathieu McConnell-Enright and Louis-Vincent Hamel.  Bolduc says  "Having this opportunity to give a concert with some of my students from the Schulich School of Music is an inspiration for me and also for them. Winning this price on top of it is so exciting and I congratulate the students who played with me." Bolduc's album of the same name, as performed with François Bourrasa, Fraiser Hollins and Dave Laing was also nominated in the Jazz and World Music Album of the Year category.

The Opus Awards were created in 1996 and bear witness to the dynamism and diversity of the Québec musical scene.  The underscore musical excellence across Québec and across different repertoires including medieval, renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic, modern, contemporary, electroacoustic, jazz and world musics.  Through the annual awards gala, the Conseil québécois de la musique honours musicians from the province and shares its passion for music created here.
