The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Samuel Gale Professor Robert Leckey, BCL/LLB’02, has been reappointed as dean. Dean Leckey’s reappointment, approved by the Board of Governors at its meeting on 10 December 2020, is effective 1 July 2021 for a term of five years.

Dean Leckey joined the Faculty of Law in 2006, where he teaches and researches in constitutional law, family law, and comparative law. From 2014 to 2016, he served as director of the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law.

The Student Affairs Office is holding a series of 30-minute Exam Clinics for ۲ݮƵ Law students for a week. Staff will walk you through installing Examplify and doing a mock exam to check that the installation went correctly.

There are seven sessions for first-year students, three for upper-years, and four sessions for graduate students. Students are invited to drop in the sessions for their specific groups. Be sure to have your laptop or computer ready.

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Brian F. Havel has received a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, from National University of Ireland, University College Dublin.

Professor Havel joined ۲ݮƵ University’s Faculty of Law of ۲ݮƵ University in 2017 as a full professor and director of the Institute of Air and Space Law (IASL). His research focuses on issues of public and private governance in the air transport and space industries.

The Faculty of Law and the ۲ݮƵ Institute of Air and Space Law (IASL) learned with deep sadness of the passing of IASL Director Emeritus Professor Dr. Michael Milde, at age 87. 

Prior to his academic career at ۲ݮƵ University, Professor Milde served in senior legal posts at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for 25 years (1966-1991). There he oversaw the negotiation of a number of international conventions and protocols on aviation safety and security, the significance of which resonates to this day.
