ʱܲDzԾ󲹰󾱲ٴ鲹 (current BMus) wins First Prize in Marimba as well as the Second Prize in Snare at the International Percussion Youth Competition Belgium 2021(ʳ۰).

The third edition of the IPYCB took place simultaneously with the prestigious Universal Marimba Competition Belgium 2021 and received the High Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Paola — the first royal honour to be presented to a Percussion Competition abroad.

Congratulations to ܴܳDzԲ (current DMus), winner of the 2020-2021 Luba Zuk Piano Duo Composition Prize! Zhuosheng’s composition is slated to premiere at the Schulich School of Music in 2022.  

Studying composition with Philippe Leroux, he reflects the kind of creativity and exploration that fuels the composition area.

Congratulations to dz (current PhD), winner of the 2020-2021 recipient of the Andrew Svoboda Prize for Orchestral Composition! Chelsea’s orchestral piece is slated to be premiered by the ۲ݮƵ Symphony Orchestra during the 2022-2023 season.  

Studying composition with Jean Lesage, she is an ambassador for the kind of creativity and exploration that fuels the composition area.

Congratulations to Prof. Marcelo Wanderley on his accomplishment as the most cited author over the entire lifetime of the New Interfaces in Musical Expressions (NIME) conference. With students and colleagues, he has co-authored 48 NIME papers presented at 17 conferences which had a total of 1,391 citations over 20 years [Fasciani & Goode, 2021. p. 24]. In addition, Wanderley has also co-authored the first- and third-most-cited articles in the history of NIME.

ʱܲDzԾDavid Therrien Brongo (current DMus) wins at the Prix d’Europe 2021.

The 109th edition of the prestigious Concours Prix d’Europe took place June 6 – 11, 2021 at the Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur in Montreal, bringing together top musical talent. The jury was comprised of renowned artists soprano Marie-Danielle Parent (Prix d’Europe 1980), cellist Carole Sirois, musicologist and oboist Michel Duchesneau, pianist Michel Franck (Prix d’Europe 1977), and orchestral and choral conductor Louis Lavigueur, C.Q..

Congratulations to Max Henry, winner of Schulich's 2020-2021 Teaching Award in the Teaching Assistant/Graduate Instructor Category.

As Teaching Assistant for MUAR 392 (Popular Music after 1945), Max showed an eagerness to support the instructor and students in whatever way. he could. Whether it be by assisting in the “live” classroom by monitoring the chat, responding directly to students, reading their questions/comments out loud, or participating in classroom dialogue, it was clear that he was there to help.
