Among the winners and nominees were several alumni and staff who exemplify what it means to bring music to life.

Congratulations to Schulich alumni India Gailey (MMus’19), Sarah Dufresne (MMus’19, GDP’20), Wilhelm Magner (BMus’22, GDP’22) along with Elisabeth Saint-Gelais (BMus’21, current MMus) and incoming student Brooklyn Wood who were featured as part of CBC Music’s 2022 edition of "30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians Under 30"!

۲ݮƵ undergraduates have a unique opportunity to expand their climate science literacy and acquire tools for taking action to reduce the impacts of the unfolding climate crisis.

Registration is now open to students in every program for FSCI 198: Climate Crisis and Climate Actions, a new undergraduate course featuring a team of multi-disciplinary instructors who will present diverse perspectives on the scientific and social dimensions of climate change.

Over the course of more than a century, thousands of Montreal students have passed through the doors of the ۲ݮƵ Conservatory of Music - a community program of the Schulich School of Music that provides musical education through private music lessons to students of all ages.The Schulich School of Music is proud of this rich legacy, and of everyone who contributed their time and talents to advancing the musical educations of Montrealers.

Trained as a bassoon player, Francoise Henri (MMus’98) has made it her mission to fill the lives of vulnerable people with music, and the pandemic isn’t slowing her down. Henri is the general and artistic director of the , better known as La SAMS. La SAMS was founded in 2009 with the goal of bringing classical music to hospitals, long-term care facilities and nursing homes across Quebec.

With a number of laureates from the Schulich Community, we couldn't be prouder of our faculty and alumni. ճGraham Sommer Competition is proud to announce that Matthew Ricketts is the grand prize winner of the second edition of the  Graham Sommer Competition for Young Composers. The $18,000 first prize for Matthew’s new work for piano trio, “Still There,” was among $54,000 in total prize earnings awarded at the Concert and Prize Gala on Sunday, September 26 at Pollack Hall.This national competition for Canadian composers under the age of 35 was founded by Dr.

Congratulations to all who received prizes at the 24th edition of the Conseil québécois de la musique’s Opus Awards! Many of the laureates were from the Schulich Community, and we couldn't be prouder. The ceremony celebrated the inspired resilience of the Quebec music scene during the 2019-2020 season, which included musical projects presented both before and since the pandemic began.

Professor Brian Cherney has been appointed a Member of the Order of Canada (OOC)

Being recognized "for his lifelong devotion to Canadian music, as an internationally renowned composer, educator and scholar", the Schulich School of Music congratulates Prof. Brian Cherney for this momentous appointment to the Order of Canada.

Among this year’s new appointments to the Order of Canada was Schulich School of Music’s Professor alcides lanza. lanza was named as a Member of the Order of Canada for his “decades-long contributions to the contemporary music scene and for championing Canadian music here and abroad”. Renowned composer, conductor and pianist specializing in avant-garde repertoire, lanza was a Professor of Composition at ۲ݮƵ University from 1971 to 2014, as well as the director of the Electronic Music Studio at ۲ݮƵ from 1974 to 2003.

Opera ۲ݮƵ is proud to present Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. From January 31 to February 2, you can catch Opera ۲ݮƵ students, accompanied by ۲ݮƵ Symphony Orchestra musicians, at the gorgeous Monument National. Under the direction of Patrick Hansen and lead by conductor Brian DeMaris, our students bring Elmer Rice’s Pulitzer-winning play of the same name to life with true dramatic and musical spectacle.
