Prestigious award honours ۲ݮƵ and RI-MUHC pioneer in the field of pediatric brain tumours

۲ݮƵ Professor and Canada Research Chair in Pediatric Oncology, Nada Jabado, has been named the 2024 L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Laureate for North America. Dr. Jabado is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, a Senior Scientist in the Child Health and Human Development Program at the Research Institute of the ۲ݮƵ University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) and a Pediatric Hemato-Oncologist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital of the MUHC.

The Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) announced the recipients of its latest competition of Partnership Engage Grants including a total of $100,000 awarded to four ۲ݮƵ researchers.

Partnership Engage Grants (PEG) provide short-term and timely support for partnered research activities between researchers and single partner organizations from the public, private or non-profit sector. ۲ݮƵ researchers received approximately $25,000 each in funding through the PEG program.

Five ۲ݮƵ University researchers have been awarded more than $190,000 in Connection Grants by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). The awards are part of $2.5 million in federal funding invested in 85 projects nationwide.

The Connection Grants program aims to realize the potential of social sciences and humanities research to influence, benefit, and impact society, within and beyond postsecondary institutions. Grants can be used to support events and outreach activities geared toward short-term knowledge mobilization initiatives.
