On June 6, 1944, the Allies launched the biggest armada in history to invade Normandy beaches and liberate Europe from the Nazis. It was a combination of extraordinary operational planning, significant innovations in science, technology and engineering, and an extremely elaborate deception plan that played a crucial diversionary role for the invasion. This illustrated lecture will emphasize the Canadian contribution.
