Period: 2011-2016
The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) was initially developed and evaluated by Dr Kumpfer and her team in the United States and has since been adapted for Black families. The National Crime Prevention Centre (NCPC) has agreed to fund the Cote des Neiges Black Community Association (CDNBCA) a 5-year process evaluation on the implementation of the Black SFP model in two high need communities in Montreal. The process evaluation aims to monitor how well the program is being implemented as it changes and adapts against expectations. An outcome evaluation, involving pre-post results on a range of parent-completed questions will also be completed. Since 2012, SFP has successfully implemented two cycles of programming targeting at-risk youth ages 7-13. Interim reports on the evolution of the program are submitted annually with a final report to be submitted to NCPC in 2017.
