The Network for Canadian Oral Health Research recently announced the recipients of the 2020-2021Ìý funding opportunity. The purpose of the seed grant program is to support the development of collaborations through the creation of new research teams with an emphasis placed on novel, innovative and interdisciplinary approaches for investigating the area of oral health.
The 2020-2021 New Frontier Seed Grant Program is sponsoring research and knowledge translation activities for five projects. Among them is Dr. Belinda Nicolau's research project, "Carrageenan for the Prevention of Oral HPV Infection: a Feasibility Randomized Clinical Trial."Ìý
The research will evaluate the possibility of testing a novel Carrageenan mouthwash – specifically formulated for this study – as a new, affordable, effective, and on-demand alternative preventive strategy against oral HPV infection.
