Please join us for an opportunity to leverage your ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Dentistry network. The event will have fellow ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵians address topics in oral surgery, general management of patients and more. The event will feature successful ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ alumni, in conversation, answering tough questions in Dentistry.

Dr. Marco Caminiti (DDS '91)

Review of Anatomy to Avoid Complications

Dr. Caminiti is originally from Montreal and started his career at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ with a Bachelors in Anatomy briefly employed as a medical illustrator before moving on to completing his dental studies in 1991. Running out of cash he joined the Canadian Forces and the United Nations from 1987 until 1994 – serving as a peacekeeper in Cyprus during 1993. Surgery beckoned and he came to Toronto for his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Toronto. After residency he was a Surgical Education Fellow in the division of Surgery. He subsequently was the Walter Lorenz Fellow in Orthognathic Surgery in the Division of OMFS at the Toronto General Hospital. With Eddie Reinish he founded Crescent Oral Surgery which is one of the largest state-of-the –art surgical centers in Canada.

Marco currently is an:

  • Assistant Professor, Head and Program Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Director of the Centre for Corrective Jaw Surgery;
  • Head of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Humber River Hospital;
  • Graduate Program Director at Mount Sinai Hospital; and,
  • Director of the Cleft Lip Palate Program at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.

Dr. Caminiti’s practice and research is focused on virtual planning for the management of patients with facial deformities. He is an avid skier, sailor, cook, and wine drinker and runs with his chocolate lab Charlie. He is the proud husband of his classmate and orthodontic wife Dr Catia Giambattistini and his three fantastic kids one of which is studying engineering at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ who tells him the beer is stilled watered-down at Gerts!


Dr. Lesley David (DDS '93)

Top 5 Things They Didn't Teach You in Dental School

Dr. David is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon practicing in Toronto. She is on staff at the Mt. Sinai Hospital and the Trillium Hospital. Dr. David is an Instructor at the University of Toronto in the Oral Surgery Clinic and has also been involved in both teaching and research in implant dentistry in the graduate Implant Prosthodontic Unit.Dr. David is a Fellow and past Examiner of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. She lectures nationally and internationally on multiple topics in implant dentistry and oral surgery and has various publications in implant dentistry.

This seminar will review various clinical situations which practitioners and patients encounter in implant practice. Various implant topics will be discussed to review appropriate management of patients and minimize negative outcomes. Among the topics to be discussed are immediate loading and immediate implant placement, socket grafting, graftless implant solutions and more. Answers to the most frequently asked questions in implant dentistry will be addressed and secrets for success will be reviewed.
