Emerson Krock
Dr. Krock’s research program focuses on painful autoimmune diseases and the regulation sensory neuron plasticity through satellite glia cells and extracellular matrix remodeling within the dorsal root ganglia. He is also specifically interested in the development of painful autoantibodies through molecular mimicry with the microbiome. His research uses a combination of animal models, human samples, and human clinical data and leverages techniques like animal behavior, tissue-clearing immunofluorescent staining, machine vision-aided image analysis, cell culture and flow cytometry.
Dr. Krock completed his PhD at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University with Drs. Lisbet Haglund and Jean Ouellet, investigating the cellular mechanisms of intervertebral disc degeneration that lead to pain. He then did his postdoc training at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden with Dr. Camilla Svensson where his research focused on pain-inducing autoantibodies in rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia.
