Reaching New Heights

For the first time in the Faculty's history, all pre-clinical and clinical training, as well as clinical and community-based research and administrative operations are under one roof at 2001 ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ College Avenue. Operating at this central location in the heart of Montreal and just steps from the Roddick Gates, this new location is not only easily accessible for patients through public transport, but also increases the Faculty's ability to continue carrying out its vital mission, combining academic excellence and community service.Ìý

Main Undergraduate Teaching Clinic

56 dental operatories; 43 dental operatory chairs for treatment, 13 chairs for imaging, surgery, research and emergency care

Each chair has its own computer with electronic charts, digital radiography the facility to hook up to a microscope for treatment and teaching purposes

Facilities for conventional, digital, computer tomography and laser imaging

A dedicated dispensary for all treatment needs

A hospital grade sterilization unit for all instruments and equipment used

Easy access for everyone with an elevator, two reception areas (one on first floor and one on the second floor) and all operatory suites are equipped for wheelchair access

Simulation Lab

40 patient simulators equipped with:

  • Head, cheeks and a torso to teach spatial awareness
  • The same air turbines, electric hand pieces and controls as the ones found in the undergraduate clinic
  • LED operator lights with optional yellow filters to prevent inadvertent curing while placing composites
  • Water and suction

4 cameras

  • Instructor camera
  • Document camera
  • Simulator camera
  • Microscope camera

2 suctions systems

  • One used during simulated patient exercises
  • One with a charcoal filter, used during lab procedures to reduce dust and the spread of volatile compounds

3 brand new classrooms

  • 1 active learning classroom with space for 40 students
  • 1 simulation lab that can be used as a classroom for hands on learning and demonstrations with space for 40 students

All classrooms are equipped with the latest technology cameras and screens for recording of lectures and improved visibility in the classroom
