This project investigates the process of youth radicalization and aims to examine longitudinally, the different pathways to radicalization among Canadian youth. The findings will have immediate, basic and applied, significance in terms of enhancing current policies, tools, and resources for policymakers, politicians, and frontline workers (e.g., teachers, educators, social workers, psychologists and law enforcement) to identify, prevent, and contain the threat of terrorism. To do so, the proposed research examines the risk (social alienation) and resilience (social support) factors that influence young Canadians to adhere to groups, at home or abroad, that support violence to further an ideological cause.
