Published: 19 July 2021

Congratulations to KPE's Ph.D. student, Alexandra Potvin-Desrochers, for receiving receiving a studentship fromÌý (CRIR).

Alexandra's PhD thesis title: Understanding and improving freezing of gait in Parkinson’s disease

Her funded project title: Améliorer le freezing de la marche dans la maladie de Parkinson avec une intervention de stimulation non-invasive du cerveau (Improving freezing of gait in Parkinson’s disease with a non-invasive brain stimulation intervention)

Alexandra is a PhD candidate interested in better understanding and improving motor control of clinical populations. She studies locomotion impairments in individuals with Parkinson’s disease, and more specifically, those who experience a symptom called freezing of gait. Her research uses brain imaging to describe patients’ brain connectivity, but also attempts to improve their locomotion using non-invasive brain stimulation.

Alexandra is currently withÌýDr. Caroline Paquette'sÌýHuman Brain Control of Locomotion Lab (HBCL).
