Genetic and neural bases for eating in the absence of hunger in children

ALL ARE WELCOME

ABSTRACT:

In this talk, Dr. Gilbert-Diamond will discuss her randomized trial on children’s neural and behavioral responses to television food advertisements. She will also discuss how the obesity risk factor, rs9939609 in the Fat Mass and Obesity Associated Gene modifies those responses.

BIO:

Professor Gilbert-Diamond received her AB from Dartmouth College with a focus in Biology in 1998 and her ScD from Harvard School of Public Health with a focus in Nutritional Epidemiology in 2010. She then completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Geisel School of Medicine in Bioinformatics and was appointed to the faculty at the Geisel School of Medicine in 2012.ÌýHer research focuses on gene-environment interactions related to child health. She has several grants from the U.S. National Institutes of Health to study various exposures, ranging from environmental toxicants to electronic media, and how they relate to physical growth in childhood.
