Child growth, parasite prevalence unaffected by deworming treatment
Published: 9 November 2015
“[Our study] draws attention to the research gap on the benefits of deworming in early childhood,” Theresa W. Gyorkos, PhD, of the department of epidemiology, biostatistics and occupational health at ۲ݮƵ University, Montreal, told Infectious Diseases in Children. “While statistically significant differences in weight and length measures 1 year later were not observed between the intervention groups compared to the placebo group, the trial results nonetheless suggest that there may be some benefit to deworming earlier rather than later (ie, at 12 months rather than at 18 months).”
