Academic & ReligiousÌýConflicts


Academic Conflict

Students in the Faculties of Arts, Science, Education, Engineering, Management, and Music, as well as the School of Nursing, with an academic conflict in the Final Exam Schedule do not need to report it.
Once the Final Exam Schedule has been posted, students will be notified via their ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ email address ahead of the exam periodÌýwith details of a resolution to the conflict.

An academic conflict exists only if you have:

  • Two exams on the same day, at the same time
  • Three exams in one day (morning at 9 a.m., afternoon at 2 p.m., and evening at 6:30 p.m.)
  • Three exams in a row in 24 hours, as follows:
    • One in the afternoon at 2 p.m., one in the evening at 6:30 p.m. of the same day, and one the following morning at 9 a.m.
    • One in the evening at 6:30 p.m., one the following morning at 9 a.m., and one the following afternoon at 2 p.m.
  • Four exams in two days
  • Five exams in three days

If you are taking a course through the Quebec Inter-University AgreementÌýand have an academic conflict (i.e. one of the scenarios described above) with your exam at the Quebec institution, please complete theÌýFinal Exam Conflict Form.

Note: You will be notified via email approximately three (3) weeks prior to the start of the exam period with a resolution to your academic conflict.

The faculties of Dentistry, Law, Medicine, and the School of Continuing StudiesÌýrequire students toÌýreport conflicts to their own Student Affairs Office, even if the courses involved are in one of the above faculties.

Students in the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, please complete theÌýFAES Final Exam Conflict Form.

Note: Students who request an accommodation may be asked to sign a confidentiality form confirming that they will not discuss the exam with anyone until after the regular exam has been written.


Religious Conflict

With the assistance of the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (MORSL), information was compiled to produce a multifaith calendar. The list is not conclusive, and additional documentation may be requested from the student to demonstrate a religious commitment.

Should a conflict arise due to an exam being scheduled on a Holy day, students can complete and submit the Final Exam Conflict Form. The deadline for submission is four weeks before exams begin.

For students in the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, please complete the FAES Final Exam Conflict Form.
