2018 Eagle Spirit Science Futures Camp

ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ

The Eagle Spirit Camp is a 1-week health and science camp hosted at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University. Our aim is to empower and encourage Indigenous youth to realize their full potential in the areas of education, career, health, culture and leadership. We welcome Indigenous youth (First Nation, Inuit, Métis) in grade 7/8 (Sec I/II) to apply to the 2018 Camp. Youth who are older may connect with our team and apply to be a junior counsellor at the Eagle Spirit Science Futures Camp.  until July 1st, 2018.

The Camp was created in 2005 as an initiative run by the First Peoples' House of ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ. Since 2017, the Indigenous Health Professions Program in the Faculty of Medicine has taken leadership with the support of the Faculty of Education to offer an enriched camp that explores science through a western and traditional lens. Our program also includes hands-on workshops facilitated by our partners in Nursing, Medicine, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Dentistry, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Social Work, and Human Nutrition. Our goal is to engage, welcome and recruit Indigenous youth to consider post-secondary studies and careers in health. Our mission is to offer a welcoming environment and expose our campers to a variety of academic, athletic, social and cultural opportunities available at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University.
