Biography:
Dr. Marcel Behr is a clinician-scientist. He was the founding Director of the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ International TB Centre and led it from 2012 to 2018. He is Director of the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Infectious Diseases Division and the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity (ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ-i4). Dr. Behr trained at the University of Toronto, Queen’s, ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ and Stanford. Dr. Behr’s work has helped clarify the natural history of TB, determined the basis of BCG attenuation, identified differences between closely related mycobacterial species and strains, and explained the molecular basis for the use of mycobacteria as immune adjuvants.
