The Department of History and Classical Studies is delighted to welcome Dr. Wendell Nii Laryea Adjetey. Dr. Adjetey is a historian of post-Reconstruction United States, specializing in the African American experience and in the intersections of Canadian, American and African diasporas. Before arriving at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ, he held the W. L. Mackenzie King Fellowship at Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and Department of History Lectureship. He holds a PhD , MA and M.Phil from Yale and an MA and a BA from the University of Toronto. He is the founding editor of the Yale Journal of Canadian Studies. His forthcoming book Cross-Border Cosmopolitans: The Making of a Pan-African North America, 1919-1992 is under contract with the University of North Carolina Press. In addition to his notable academic work Dr. Adjetey has worked extensively in public service and as an advocate for social justice, including working with youth at risk. He is co-founder and president of the Tujenge Africa Foundation, investing in the start-ups of under-represented minorities. He has received multiple awards honouring his work, including the YMCA Peace Medal. Welcome to Dr. Adjetey.
