Zombie Sessions
Everyone has at least one Zombie project – it’s a project that is stuck…. Stuck between being ‘live’ and ‘dead’. Stuck in a way that you can’t tell if it should be reanimated (i.e. brought back to life with a new plan and new energy), or one that needs to be buried for good (i.e. put in the filing cabinet, given a proper funeral, and bury the guilt along with it). Sometimes a Zombie project is a paper that got tough reviews, a project that you can’t make sense of the data, or one that just needs a new set of eyes or a new suggestion of where it might find a home.
Please bring your zombies – we will work in small groups, and the goal of the session is for everyone to have a clear next step for their zombie; whether specific plans for reanimation, or the freedom of walking away from it guilt-free. If you have a zombie to share we will roughly go with the following format: the ‘owner’ of the Zombie will present a summary of your project and where/how you are stuck for about 3 minutes, then small group members will be given about 1 minute each for quick, focused feedback or ideas on how to move forward.
If you have a Zombie project, please feel free to let ihse.med [at] mcgill.ca (Nicole) and meredith.young [at] mcgill.ca (Meredith) know.
