Dr. Abraham Fuks is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University where he obtained his M.D.,C.M. in 1970 and where he is currently a Professor in the Departments of Medicine, Pathology and Oncology. His research interests have included the immunogenetics of diabetes, the biology of tumor-associated antigens and cell adhesion molecules, and ethical aspects of the design of trials involving human subjects. He is a clinical immunologist who has taught immunology, molecular aspects of malignancy, research ethics and clinical reasoning. Dr. Fuks served as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ from 1995 to 2006 and was a Visiting Professor in the Department of Social Medicine at Harvard University in 2007-2008. He has an ongoing scholarly interest in the language of medicine and its metaphoric structure and in the role of narratives in the patient-physician relationship. He has recently authored (along with Drs J. Donald Boudreau and Eric J. Cassell) Physicianship and the Rebirth of Medical Education (Oxford University Press).
