Integrating Your Non-Academic Life and Career into Academia: Keynote & Lunch
Join the Office of Indigenous Initiatives as they host Professor Natasha I. Macdonald (Department of Integrated Studies in Education & Office of First Nations and Inuit Education) for a keynote address entitled, 鈥淚ntegrating Your Non-Academic Life and Career into Academia.鈥� now.
The keynote will take place on Tuesday, September 26 at Sherbrooke 688, room 1041, from 12:00-2:00 pm and lunchboxes will be provided by Kahnawake-based catering company, Messy Kitchen.
Talk Description:
"As a fairly new Indigenous academic who has had 20 years of a rewarding life and career outside of academia, I decided to make my 鈥渙ther life鈥� a strength and the basis for my studies and research. Some of us didn鈥檛 go into graduate studies right away but took a winding path serving our communities. Let鈥檚 celebrate that 鈥� it all counts!"

Natasha Ita MacDonald
Natasha Ita MacDonald is Inuk, originally from Nunavik. MacDonald is a new assistant professor in DISE and the Office of First Nations and Inuit Education. She is also a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Education at Concordia University. MacDonald specializes in decolonizing English second language education, with a focus on intercultural communication via social media in Inuit communities where Inuktitut is still a first language.
