GSAN Peer Support Network

The Peer Support Network is a confidential one-on-one service open to all graduate students in the IPN, regardless of your stage of training. Our team is composed of fellow IPN graduate students who are trained in active listening, support skills, and general psychological wellbeing. The benefit of a peer based program is that our supporters share common experiences with those they support. If you’d like to connect with an empathetic, understanding, and non-judgemental listener, the Peer Support Network is there for you. Meet your Black Student Affairs Liaison, Antoine-Samuel Mauffette Alavo!ÌýAntoine-Samuel will be responsible for connecting with and supporting Black graduate students across ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ to ensure that their needs and interests are communicated effectively to the University and addressed in a timely and effective manner.ÌýAs part of his role, Antoine-Samuel can refer individuals to resources aimed at supporting Black students and ensuring their success and wellness. Avoiding Scams

Types of Scams

Phone Scams

IRCC, Service Canada, and other government organizations will never call and ask you to transfer money to an individual, provide payment over the phone or online, or pay a fee.

Phishing Scams

You may receive an official-looking email that asks you to provide personal information such as bank account information and passwords. These types of emails may look like they are from a ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ accountÌýand will try to trick you into clicking on an unreliable link or opening an attachment with a virus. Always check the URL when you open a link from your email.

Employment Scams

Students have received emails regarding employment opportunities that literally sound too good to be true. They offer job opportunities with flexible hours, great wages and say they got your contact information from an administrator at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ. It is illegal for ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ employees to share confidential information with external organizations without your permission.Ìý
