Wednesday, November 27, 2024 10:00to16:30

On November 27th, Jocelyn Maclure, the chairholder for the Jarislowsky Chair in Human Nature and Technology will be presenting at an event organized by the Order of Psychologists of Québec about the impacts of AI on psychology and mental health care:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is is increasingly becoming a part of our daily lives from algorithms, chatbots to other virtual assistants, sometimes even without our knowledge. Should we worry about this rise in the use of AI? And how does this technology risk affecting us in terms of individuals, social groups and psychologists?Ìý

Some experts compare the rise of AI to the invention of electricity, underlining above all else its potential to revolutionize industries, transportation, communication, the environment... and healthcare. In today's world, mental health care is no exception and has the potential to be hugely impacted by AI.

What are the ethical and philosophical considerations that come with AI? What impacts could this technology have on our society and in the field of psychology? How could AI influence psychological evaluation, treatments and clinical practice? And finally, how should we adopt an attitude that is both open and prudent in the face of the rapidly advancing technology of AI?

At this conference entirely dedicated to the impact of artificial intelligence in psychology, the president of the Order of Psychologists inÌýQuébec in addition to three renowned experts will share their reflections and analysis on this growing technology.Ìý
