The ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Law community is invited to participate in the 12th annual Christie Community Bike Ride in support of the West Island Black Community Association (). The WIBCA provides a wide variety of services, including: running town hall meetings with elected officials, facilitating discussion groups and anti-racism workshops, operating a drop-in centre for youth, and providing a free legal clinic.

The Christie Community Bike Ride was founded in 2009 to commemorate the legacy of ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ alumnus and Vancouver lawyer Dugald Christie. Christie was both a strong advocate for access to justice and an avid cyclist. In 2006, Christie began cycling across the country to convince our decision-makers in Ottawa of the necessity for justice system reform. He was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle four months after the start of his journey. Every year, ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Law students and other members of the community bike 50 km around Montreal in his honour to raise funds for a local access to justice organization.

The organizers hope that you will join them on this bike ride in support of access to justice! . Registration is $25 via .

Event details and required precautions will be emailed within 48 hours after registration. If you have any question, contact the organizers at christiebikeirde [at] gmail.com.
