Abstract

The presentation will address the relationship and interaction between our vision of certain cultural practices as shaped by our egalitarian discourses. Instead of viewing culture and equality as opposite and contradictory terms, the presentation will attempt to articulate how their interaction if conceived in new ways can contribute to the advancement and better realization of more justice for everyone. Finally, some proposals as to the better definition of the role played by international human rights within this interaction will be formulated.
