About the speaker
Professor is an expert in the fields of international economic law, dispute settlement, and the empirical analysis of international law. Professor Franck's legal experience includes serving at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and practicing in international dispute settlement with Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering [now Wilmer Hale] in Washington, DC and Allen & Overy in London, England. She is qualified to practice law in England and Wales, Minnesota and the District of Columbia. She is the Chair of the Academic Council of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration, a member of the Executive Committee of the American Society of International Law, and a member of the American Law Institute.

This lecture on arbitration commemorates the life and work of John E.C. Brierley, who was Professor and Dean of Law at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ. He was a prominent figure in the discipline of comparative law internationally and the leading Canadian expert on arbitration.
The John E.C. Brierley Memorial Lecture is presented by ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ and its Research Team on Private Justice and the Rule of Law, with the participation of the Canadian Bar Association (Québec branch) and the L. Yves Fortier Chair. It will be followed by an informal cocktail in the Atrium.
