Please join us for this Osler Day-related event as the finalists from The Pam and Rolando Del Maestro Family William Osler Medical Student Essay Awards will deliver their presentations.

Our special thanks to Pam and Rolando Del Maestro, the Medical Students’ Osler Society, and the Board of Curators of the Osler Library.

Current and incoming medical students at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ are invited to explore the historical, social, ethical, and humanistic side of their field thanks to an essay contest established by the Medical Students’ Osler Society and the Board of Curators of the Osler Library of the History of Medicine and endowed through a generous gift by Pam and Rolando Del Maestro.

The essay contest gives current and newly enrolling ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ medical students the opportunity to explore any theme of interest to them in the history, social studies, sociology, ethics, and humanities of the health sciences. It also provides them with the chance to be mentored by an expert in their topic drawn from the Library’s Board of Curators or elsewhere to complete their project, and to use the rich resources of the Osler Library and other libraries at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ. Essays can be submitted and presented in French or English.

Three finalists will be chosen and will present their essays on Osler Day. Prizes will be given of $250 for third place, $500 for second place, and $1,000 for the winning essay. The top essays are typically published on the library website, though we may agree to postpone this for winners who are preparing their essays for publication.

Présentations 2024 | Prix pour les dissertations d’étudiants en médecine William Osler de la famille Pam et Rolando Del Maestro

Dans le cadre de la journée Osler, nous vous invitons à assister aux présentations des finalistes pour les prix pour les dissertations d’étudiants en médecine William Osler offerts par la famille Pam et Rolando Del Maestro.

Remerciements particuliers à Pam et Rolando Del Maestro, à la Société Osler des étudiantes et étudiants en médecine, et au Conseil des conservateurs de la Bibliothèque Osler.

Nos étudiantes et étudiants en médecine actuels et nouvellement inscrits de l’Université ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ sont invités à explorer les volets historiques, sociaux, éthiques et humanistes de leur domaine lors d’un concours de dissertations mis sur pied par la Société Osler des étudiantes et étudiants en médecine et le Conseil des conservateurs de la Bibliothèque Osler de l’histoire de la médecine grâce au soutien généreux de Pam et Rolando Del Maestro.

Ce concours vise à leur donner l’occasion d’approfondir un thème de leur choix qui touche à l’histoire, aux études sociales, à la sociologie, à l’éthique et aux sciences humaines dans le contexte des sciences de la santé et à leur offrir la chance de profiter des conseils d’une ou d’un mentor expert de ce domaine pouvant notamment faire partie du Conseil des conservateurs pour mener à terme leur projet ainsi que des vastes ressources de la Bibliothèque Osler et des autres bibliothèques de ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ. Les dissertations peuvent être rédigées et présentées en français ou en anglais.

Trois finalistes seront sélectionnés et invités à présenter leur travail pendant la journée Osler. La troisième et la seconde place remporteront un prix de 250 $ et de 500 $ respectivement, alors que la gagnante ou le gagnant se verra décerner le grand prix de 1 000 $. Les meilleures dissertations sont habituellement publiées sur le site Web de la Bibliothèque, mais un délai est parfois accordé dans le cas des dissertations soumises à d’autres publications.
