Issues of political corruption have been front and centre in Quebec in recent years.Ìý Controversies such as the sponsorship scandal of 2004 and the current widespread corruption in the construction industry in Quebec have put political integrity high on the agenda of the press, and the public.Ìý The Friends of the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Library are offering A View from an Insider.
Ìý
The Honorable John H. Gomery, Commissioner of the Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities, and Bernard St. Laurent, host and Senior Political Editor at CBC, take a critical look at corruption. John H. Gomery will explore the recurring phenomenon of corruption in government, the usefulness of commissions of enquiry to expose unlawful conduct and mismanagement and why such commissions tend to be loved by the public and disliked, with some justification, by those whose names are mentioned during the hearings.Ìý
