Dr. Brian Ward
Biography:

Dr. Brian Ward is a Professor of Medicine and Microbiology. He has long-standing interest in negative-sense RNA viruses: particularly Paramyxoviruses (measles virus, mumps virus, RSV) and Orthomyxoviruses (influenza viruses). Vaccine science is at the core of his activities, but host-virus interactions are also a focus of interest (eg: micronutrients, novel immunomoduators). He has almost 30 years of experience in running vaccine clinical trials: from small, investigator-initiated phase 1 studies (n=15-25) to multi-national phase 3 studies (n = 10,000-12,000). For many years, he has given 1-2 'vaccine' lectures in a wide range of courses in different ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Departments focused on microbiologic and immunologic questions (eg: MIMM, PHY, PATH, FMD, PARA). He also gives regular lectures on tropical medicine (eg: Panama Field Course, FMD) and vaccine science for CME courses (TELS, Family Medicine, Drug Refresher, Tropical Medicine, Colloque Bleu).
