Biography: 

Dr. Selena Sagan is an Associate Professor jointly appointed in the Departments of Microbiology & Immunology and Biochemistry. Dr. Sagan studies host-virus interactions during infection with positive- and negative-strand RNA viruses with great impact on human health. These include viruses of the Flaviviridae family, including Hepatitis C virus, the mosquito-borne Dengue and Zika viruses, as well as Respiratory Syncytial virus. She coordinates Fundamental Virology (MIMM 324) in the Undergraduate Microbiology & Immunology Program, lectures in several undergraduate and graduate courses, supervises undergraduate and graduate students in research, and serves on the Education Committee for the Canadian Hepatitis C Virus Network (CanHepC) and is a Director on the Executive of the Canadian Society for Virology (CSV).
