During candid, 30-minute interviews with leading experts, Claire Webster, Alzheimer Care Consultant and Founder of the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Dementia Education Program, will explore topics related to caring for a loved one with dementia.
Launch of a New Educational Guide for People Living with Dementia and their Care Partners
We are thrilled to announce that on October 20, we will launchÌýa free new ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ educational resource:ÌýDementia, Your Companion Guide.ÌýWith engaging illustrations and a friendly writing style, this approachable guide covers a wide array of topics to assist both the person living with dementia and their care partners. It includes information on the science and progression of dementia as well as practical advice on safety and self-care.
The guide was created by the multidisciplinaryÌýÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Dementia Education ProgramÌý(DEP) team, with content provided by former caregiver Ms. Claire Webster, geriatrician Dr. José A. Morais and neurologist Dr. Serge Gauthier. The booklet was made possible thank to a generous donation of $250,000 from the .
During this special edition ofÌýÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Cares, Elise Nesbitt, President of the Grace Dart Foundation, will be joined by the following members of theÌýDEP team who are leading this initiativeÌýto introduce this new educational offering that will be available in English and French, online and in print.
- Ms. Elise NesbittÌýis an entrepreneur and board member of various Montreal non-profit organizations. Recently, she has focused most of her attention on the aging population within the Montreal community and the grass-roots organizations that are finding solutions and services to meet their needs.
- Dr. Serge GauthierÌýis Professor Emeritus in the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and former Director of the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Centre for Studies in Aging.
- Dr. José A. MoraisÌýis Director of the Division of Geriatric Medicine at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University, the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University Health Centre and the Jewish General Hospital.
- Professor Isabelle GélinasÌýis Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director at the School of Physical and Occupational Therapy at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University.
