International symposium promotes collaboration

First Joint ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ-Hebrew University of Jerusalem-European Brain Research Institute (EBRI) Neuroscience Symposium held June 18-19

The research community in Montreal had a chance to hear exciting lectures about the latest trends in neuroscience thanks to a joint symposium by three institutions in Canada, Israel and Italy.

The First Joint ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ-Hebrew University of Jerusalem-EBRI Symposium brought leading experts from ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ, the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital (The Neuro), the Hebrew University at Jerusalem/Institute for Medical Research Israel-Canada, and the (EBRI) to the Jeanne Timmins Amphitheatre from June 18 to 19. The symposium was a great chance for researchers to learn about the latest work being done in their field, and find opportunities for new collaborations with international partners.

It was also a valuable chance for students and post-doctoral researchers to network and expand their horizons.

The symposium was in part a result of previous meetings between researchers at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ and The Hebrew University. In 2017 ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ researchers attended a similar symposium in Jerusalem and this year it is ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ’s turn to host.

There were three main themes, Development and Dysfunction of Neuro Circuits, Mechanics of Neural Degeneration, and Cognition and Behavior. Presenters included Enrico Cherubini (EBRI), Avihu Klar (HUJ), Artur Kania (IRCM, ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ), Oded Behar (HUJ), Enrico Cherubini (EBRI), Anne McKinney (ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ), Stuart Trenholm (ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ), Silvia Marinelli (EBRI), Carl Ernst (ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ), Thomas Durcan (ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ), Jean-Francois Trempe (ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ), Ronit Sharon (HUJ), Ivan Arisi (EBRI), Austen Milnerwood (ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ), Josh Goldberg (HUJ), Raffaella Scardigli (EBRI), Veronique Bohbot (ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ), Shahar Arzy (HUJ), Giovanni Meli (EBRI), Edith Hamel (ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ), Antonino Cattaneo (EBRI), Mara D’Onofrio (EBRI), Wayne Sossin (ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ), Corinna Giorgi (EBRI), Ithai Rabinowitch (HUJ), Michael Hendricks (ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ), Marco Canossa (EBRI), Amir Amedi (HUJ), Marilena Griguoli (EBRI), Yonatan Kupchik (HUJ), and Lesley Fellows (ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ).
