Biography: 

Dr. Catherine LegaultÌýis an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery.Ìý She is a neurologist and co-director of the Stroke Programme at the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University Health Centre.Ìý She obtained her medical degree from ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University in 2011 and completed a one-year internship in Internal Medical at Montreal’s Jewish General Hospital before beginning her Neurology Residency at The Neuro in 2012.Ìý She was chief resident from 2014-2015.Ìý Dr. Legault conducted specialized training at Stanford University in California with a fellowship in Vascular Neurology followed by an NIH StrokeNet fellowship.Ìý While at Stanford, she was part of a multidisciplinary team conducting clinical research on stroke patients with a focus on stroke recovery and rehabilitation, stroke systems of care.Ìý She began her appointment at The Neuro in 2018.Ìý

Dr. Legault’s clinical research interests include acute stroke management, induced hypertension after stroke, stroke rehabilitation, post-stroke cognition, training of visual recovery after stroke, wearable devices, and gait disorder in stroke.Ìý She is also interested in stroke systems of care, stroke education, and patient education.Ìý Dr. Legault is a principal investigator for several stroke clinical trials on-going at The Neuro’s Clinical Research Unit.Ìý She actively participates on multiple committees while also involved in clinical teaching to residents and medical students and supervising emergency department consultation, bedside practise, and outpatient clinic.
