Exercise training and Physical Activity in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Riany de Sousa Sena defended her PhD thesis in Rehabilitation Science in 2017 at ۲ݮƵ University under Dr. Sara Ahmed’s supervision and Dr. Jean Bourbeau’s co-supervision. Her research focused on the role of physical activity in the rehabilitation of patients with CODP. As a PhD student, she was the first author of projects such as: “Eccentric Cycle Exercise For Patients With Severe COPD: Training Application And Feasibility” (2012), “Positives Of Negative Work: Eccentric Cycling Effects On Skeletal Muscle In Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)” (2012), “Eccentric cycling exercise: A novel form of rehabilitation for patients with severe COPD?” (2013),” Work Impairment In Individuals With Mild To Moderate COPD: Lesson Learned From The Cancold Study” (2014), “Physical activity in daily life: A new outcome to evaluate young adult survivors of bronchopulmonary dysplasia?” (2014), “Validity and usability testing of the Fitbit pedometer in patients with COPD” (2015). Currently, Riany occupies the position of Assistant Professor, at the Department of Physiotherapy of the Federal University of Ceara, located in the city of Fortaleza, Brazil.
