New Residence Hall - Emergency Facade Work And Facade Renovation
Project Description:
Complete replacement of block facing on building facades and repair of concrete surfaces.
Project Scope:
On June 27, 2018 a section of bricks from the façade of the New Residence Hall fell to the street below. Immediate measures were put in place to secure the perimeter. Emergency repairs to the envelope began in October 2018 and were completed by January 2019.Ìý
In October 2018, professionals from the architectural firm of DMA were mandated to conduct a study of the condition of the façade of the NRH and provide corrective actions. It was decided that the best long-term solution was to proceed with the complete reconstruction of the façade.
On December 15th 2022, the project funding has been approved by the board of governors.
The reconstruction work will be carried out in three (3) lots; the first to be completed in Fall 2023 followed by Lot 2 in 2024 and Lot 3 in 2025.
