Biography:

Research Areas:

Cognition & Cognitive Neuroscience

Research Summary:

Dr. Mullen, who is based at the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Vision Research unit, uses human behavioural (psychophysical) methods and brain imaging (fMRI) to study the visual pathways and processes underlying human colour vision. She is interested in issues such as how colour differences in the visual scene can be used to construct a spatial map of the world and reveal objects of interest, and how the "grey level" and color representations are encoded within the visual system. She uses brain imaging to investigate the areas of the human brain that are responsive to colour. She has also investigated the development of color cognition in young children (2-6 years).
