Open Lab- Stem Cells and Neural Organoids
The Early Drug Discovery Unit (EDDU) at the Montreal Neurological Institute (The Neuro) works to accelerate drug discovery, with the ultimate goal of improving the lives of people living with neurological diseases.
Our starting tools include induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) made from patients, from which we can derive brain cells (neurons, astrocytes, etc.). We can even grow the iPSCs in 3D cultures to make neural organoids (also known as ‘mini-brains’) that we can use to model neurological diseases.
Our team of more than 40 researchers can help train you to work with iPSCs, and show you how we use automated technology to carry out industry-standard assays.
The EDDU welcomes academic and industry partners to collaborate in developing new Open Science tools and technologies that use iPSCs.
